Celebrate
your next special occasion in a setting rich with history.
The Maison
Lafitte was built in 1902 as the home to William Fuller, a businessman for the
American Tobacco Company. The original mansion consisted of what remains today,
in addition to wings on the right and left sides of the building, which no
longer exist. The building was used in several scenes of the classic film,
"Gone With the Wind," and was originally portrayed as Tara Hall.
When the
east wing of the building burned down in a fire, the other was torn down to
retain symmetry. After Fuller passed away, the building changed ownership twice
before coming into the hands of Giovanni Susech, who has owned the building for
45 years. He started operating a restaurant at the Maison Lafitte, the longest
running French restaurant in Westchester. In the year 2001, the restaurant was
bought by Dr. Syed A. Nayeem, and his wife Dr. Zahida Nayeem, who currently own
the premises.
Who is
Lafitte? The Story of Lafitte Recalled
WASHINGTON,
Dec. 24 (AP) - The men of Barataria referred to in the White House statement
today on pardons for ex-convicts were the the pirates of Jean Lafitte. They
controlled the Baratarian Gulf, an entrance to New Orleans. The British, in the
War of 1812, offered Lafitte 30,000 pounds and a commission in the Royal Navy,
but instead he offered the services of himself and his men to the Americans, on
condition that they be pardoned for their crimes. General Andrew Jackson accepted
the offer, and Lafitte and nearly 1,000 of his followers distinguished
themselves in manning the artillery in the Battle of New Orleans.
Enjoy the
cultivated taste of fine Continental French cuisine.
In
addition to hosting parties, the Maison Lafitte offers lunch and dinner daily,
with a special Sunday brunch.
Outdoor
dining is available during the summer.
In
addition, the new Riverview Dining Room provides a gorgeous view as you eat.
Live Jazz
